NEW NAIJA BEATS

Hey everyone!

So I've been on a bit of an afrobeats high recently and I really love the stuff coming out of the motherland and as always I thought it would be fun to share some beats with you guys that are relatively new on the scene! Enjoy as always!

Side Bar: There is an interview with Dammy Krane on this blog done a while back but so glad to see he has started to make a name for himself on the Naija scene. Do check it out! And see you all soon!

BACK TO SCHOOL!!!

Hey Guys!

So I decided to do a post on some looks I have created with my Sleek and Mac Makeup Collection. I hope you enjoy!

CANDY YUM YUM.
For this look, I decided to tone down the rest of my features to suit the very bright and colorful texture of Mac's Candy Yum Yum lipstick. I used a very light tinge of Sleek's Blush Pallette to give a soft and subtle glow to my cheeks.
I also decided to do my braids in a neat bun to add a classic look to the day time application of this lip stick and I added some nice pearls to tone down the look additionally. I think this colour is very strong and should be the only statement being made on your face.

RUBY WOO!
So I finally jumped on the Ruby Woo bandwagon decades later! And I have to say I really do love this lipstick. Its very matte and at the same time makes such a huge statement. I think it looks great on the lips but like Candy yum yum and any strong make up colour, I decided tone down my eyes with a subtle smokey look. However, I thought to add a bit more edge to the outfit I should style it with some silver hoops!

REVLON NEARLY NUDE #117.
And now I finally ventured away from Mac just for a bit to create a very tropical nude with Revlon's lovely nearly nude lipstick and Sleek's iDivine pallette.
I love this look and I think its very easy to recreate for those that aren't to big on bold lipstick.

I love the simplicity of the look and I'm a big fan of Revlon's Nearly Nude because its just the perfect lip stain that goes with everything.

MAC'S DUBONNET.
Now I was cautious with lipstick at first and I have had it for quite a while; but I decided to try and create a look with it. The lipstick colour in itself is gorgeous-its a sort of reddish brown when looked at closely-but I was skeptical about wearing it out. I was happy with the colour however when I decided to try it on with some very simple eye makeup; I always think its best to keep either your eyes or your face neutral during the day time; at night, you can afford to have a bit of both; that is my opinion anyways. here is the look!

And those are my back to school looks..some of them at least! I had fun playing around with the Sleek iDivine Pallette and trying on some bold lipsticks. I think its safe to where any lip colour during the day time as long as its perfectly complimented with the other pieces of makeup on your face but mostly it works best if you experiment and have fun with your makeup which is what I tried to do!
What are some of your back to school looks?

NIGERIAN FASHION-CLAN

Nigeria is moving forward in terms of a developing market. I have found it quite interesting to focus on the fashionable aspect of Nigeria’s progress. Recently, there has been an explosion of Nigerian fashion designers catering to the youth by blending culture with creativity. I did an interview with one of these designers recently-House 38. Once in a while, I would try to focus on a particular designer’s work that I find trendy.
Right now I have chosen to focus on CLAN-the brain child of three young women-Temi, Tiwa and Aba-daughters of the established Deola Sagoe. What do you think of their pieces for this season?
I personally like the simplicity of the different outfits and I think they reflect youthful edginess and creativity.

NAIJA PLAYLIST #1-HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY

Hey Everyone!

Nigeria just celebrated independence a few days back-1st Oct-and I just thought as my own way of wishing my country well I would put up a playlist that celebrates our ever growing and expanding music culture. Some of these bits might not be strictly Nigerian but they are African. Also, a lot of you have probably heard a lot of them. But, as my little contribution to my country's celebration this is my way of expressing my Nigerian roots. So do enjoy! And I'll be put up some more occassionally :)

Enjoy! And see you all soon!

FAVOURITE SUMMER BEAT

Charass is a new artist on the scene in Naija as far as I am aware cause I have not heard of him before this video-Gbege. I love this song so much and the comdeic vibe it successfuly conveys with its quite serious message of trust.
He basically talks about how his girl played him and I just think its an interesting angle as its usually the female in that predicament. As usal there is a mix of indegenious language with English but the message is clear-his girl is a cheat and he is hurt. The sound is very unique. Its very simple but  has some powerful lyrics to make it a very interesting song to listen to and watch. My favourite line is ‘You no go use my brain not again’..lol! Immediately the video starts up it hooks you and shows the ‘Gbege’ that is the source of the song.
This was one of my favourite songs this summer and I chose to expand on it because of the fact that its a new artist. He also acts very well lol which I like cause it adds to the drama of the video. There is some serious successful use of indegenous words in this video making it sound even more cultural.
Here it is! Enjoy!

HAIR HAIR HAIR!

Hey Guys! Welcome to my blog! And yes I have been M.I.A for a number of reasons basically being exams, summer and so on. But I am back anyways for the time being. Today I have decided to share my thoughts on hair.

As you all can see, I have freed the weave and gone back to braids :)

Okay so I recently became a fan of the whole virgin hair experiment. When I say ‘virgin hair’ I mean ‘virigin hair extentension’ o. I am not a ‘natural hair nazi’ yet but I’m contemplating heading down that route. Anyways, the thing with virgin hair with me is the whole range that’s available and trying to find out what works best for you. I’m not a fussy girl and a bit of an ‘o le’ which means lazy in yoruba. Me, I do not like stress. So the whole trying to choose between brazilian, peruvian, indian, mongolian and only God knows what else is enough stress as is. But the fact is it does look great if it is done well and is on point.

That in itself is another stressful encounter. You have to find a reasonably priced vendor, then debate the lengths and packs you want on your head, and then decide if you want to top it of with a closure or frontal for it to look more natural and then finally pray that your vendor’s ‘reasonably priced’ hair is of good quality. Because if not, you are basically in trouble for lack of a better unaggressive word. But yeah thats the problem with virgin hair-there’s a lot to investigate. But it does look good when its done properly and when all is said and done I do enjoy some good virgin hair as any young lady does.
But, I have decided to get some braids on for now and take a break from the whole virgin hair experience.

I think braids are an easy hairstyle for a very active young woman. They take no time at all to style and they last for a long time so I thought it was about time to go back to my roots.
What hair styles are you debating having for the autumn/ winter season? What is your virgin hair experience?

I decided to dot this post with some random pics on how I style my braids. Hope you enjoy and see you soon :)
